Reference Model

A Reference Model in Enterprise Architecture is a model used to represent interrelated defined concepts. Reference models are usually defined as an abstract framework or domain-specific ontology and are often produced by standards organizations or bodies of experts in order to encourage clear communication.

A reference model can be used to represent the component of any consistent idea, e.g. business functions, business processes to system components. It usually represents a complete set.
