The Challenge
Mölnlycke Health Care, headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, is at the forefront of medical technology, specializing in products for wound management, operating room solutions, and antiseptics. With a global presence in over 100 countries and around 8,400 employees, Mölnlycke is committed to revolutionizing care to improve health outcomes while minimizing the environmental impact of healthcare.
The dynamic MedTech industry demands a sophisticated IT architecture that supports both present operations and future advancements. Mölnlycke wanted a tool to optimize the development of its architecture practice, which involved visualizing the current and future states of its IT landscape and the initiatives supporting the transition between them. Having a single source of truth for its technology portfolio would support decision-making, identify dependencies and risks, and ensure projects achieve their intended goals.
Solution
A long-term user of Orbus Software solutions, Mölnlycke migrated from the on-prem offering, iServer to the cloud-native platform, OrbusInfinity. The move not only preserved historical data but also improved data quality and simplified the metamodel through a fresh approach to populating the repository.
It also aligned with Mölnlycke’s strategic direction of leveraging Microsoft 365 for collaboration and content management. The cloud solution's usability, SharePoint integration, and predefined solutions enhanced interoperability significantly.
The Result
With OrbusInfinity, Mölnlycke has achieved a new level of IT landscape visibility and strategic budget allocation. The platform supports detailed current and future state descriptions, aiding decision-making and project alignment. Integration with ServiceNow enhances capability planning and process modeling, leading to clearer scopes for major initiatives and better utilization of IT budgets through strategic reallocation.
The team at Mölnlycke commends OrbusInfinity for its ongoing development, interoperability, collaboration, and governance features, and is exploring further opportunities to use the platform for master data governance.
