We have a big announcement to share.
Gareth Burton has joined Orbus Software as the company's Chief Executive Officer!
Across his career, Gareth has worked closely with private equity companies and has extensive experience running digital transformation programs for international technology organizations and SaaS businesses.
He previously worked in Munich on the board of Thinkproject for 18 months before moving into the position of CEO. There, Burton led the integration work of previous acquisitions and completed a further four acquisitions for the group. In parallel, under his leadership the Thinkproject team grew the business organically at an impressive rate. He then led a successful exit, eventually selling the business to EQT in December 2020.
After taking on a couple of board roles – for BuildData Group and ACTICO – Burton was contacted by Adam Hale, Orbus Software’s current Non-Executive Chairman, to step into the role of Orbus’ CEO. Which brings us to where we are today.
Gareth brings a wealth of experience to Orbus, having also held board level IT positions within the oil and gas, construction and FinTech sectors. He has around 10 years experience as a CIO, working for companies such as Laing O'Rourke, Baker Hughes and Finastra.
Leveraging his wide network of CIO and technology leaders, as well as his previous experience leading software businesses, Burton will use his expertise to drive Orbus Software into the next stage of its growth.
One of the main reasons Burton was drawn to Orbus was due to some of the challenges he has experienced across his technology career. Mainly, the lack of visibility organizations had when it came to digital transformation. He is excited to drive our ongoing mission to equip customers with the right tools to architect their digital futures.
“I'm joining at such a pivotal stage in Orbus Software's journey,” said Burton. “At a time when only about 30% of organizations navigate a digital transformation successfully, and where we’re seeing uncertainty becoming the new normal, it’s crucial we continue providing our customers with the visibility and collaborative tools they need to successfully digitally transform. I have been highly impressed with the incredibly talented and diverse team at Orbus, who are on a mission to improve the potential of every organization by harnessing the power of Enterprise Architecture. I look forward to working with our customers, partners, and our entire ecosystem as we continue to scale globally.”
His new position at Orbus reflects the significant changes underway within the business, which includes our continued rapid expansion into the US and the launch of our new global partner program. Burton's appointment will assist us in growing the company's partner network, while supporting the company's expansion into new markets.
Earlier this year, we announced that we are on track to achieve £20 million annual recurring revenue in 2022, after growing our cloud ARR by over 300% over the past twelve months. The appointment of Burton matches the strength of this unprecedented growth, particularly as software as a service (SaaS) solutions become more crucial than ever in meeting competition in the current landscape.
It’s going to be an exciting journey ahead for Orbus… watch this space!
